An exhibition of original acrylic and mixed media paintings by Media artist Linda Schroeder will be on display from April 6 through May 1, 2017 at Swarthmore Borough Hall, 121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore.  The public is invited to the artist’s opening reception on Friday April 7 from 5 to 7 pm.  Both the exhibit and the opening are free and open to the public.

The exhibit, entitled “The Other Side of Me,” presents paintings by Ms. Schroeder, who started out as a watercolor painter, and over the years has evolved a mixed media and acrylic genre that ranges from graphic to abstract.  She learned the basics of watercolor painting from area artist Katherine Robinson in earlier years, and then had to put her creative pursuits to the side in order to tend to family life and career pursuits.  After a number of years, she returned to study art at the Wallingford Community Arts Center with Nancy Barch, a local mixed media painter who herself started out as a watercolorist, and whose evolution as a mixed media painter has been an inspiration to Ms. Schroeder. She believes that her work reflects the exuberance of finally having made the time to create again.

Ms. Schroeder’s work has been exhibited previously at Swarthmore Borough Hall, as well as locally in other area venues including Daylesford Abbey, the Community Arts Center, the CAC Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, and the Philadelphia Water Color Society Member Show at Widener University.
