November’s Art Exhibit presents the artwork of Pete Prown, opening November 6th through November 24th.
An exhibition of original paintings by local artist Pete Prown will be on display from November 6 through November 24, 2018 at Swarthmore Borough Hall, 121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore. The public is invited to the artist’s opening reception on Friday November 9, from 6 to 8 pm. Both the exhibit and the opening are free and open to the public.
The exhibit presents paintings by Mr. Prown, the subject matter primarily landscapes, botanicals and, increasingly, portraits of animals. “I grew up in New England surrounded by farms, pastures, flowers, and wooded landscapes, and this is often reflected in my paintings. Everything seems to refer back to that idea, along with my 20-years of work in the professional-gardening sphere. My ongoing work is about challenging myself to try new subjects in that vein, as well as still lifes. This is rewarding and keeps me moving forward.”
Pete Prown has led a 30-year career in journalism, working in two dissimilar fields – the music business and Philadelphia gardening world. He’s a writer, magazine and web editor, and landscape photographer. Pete is also an author with several books to his credit.
He’s exhibited his work in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and continues to paint and study avidly. Local exhibits have included: Wallingford Community Art Center, Rose Valley Museum at Thunderbird Lodge, Juried Painting Show Media Arts Council, Swarthmore Friends of the Arts, Helen Kate Furness Library charity auction in Rose Valley, Rose Valley 75th Anniversary Exhibition.
Exhibit hours are Monday to Thursday 9 am to 8 pm, Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 3 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
The exhibit is sponsored by Swarthmore Friends of the Arts.
