September’s Art Exhibit, titled “Portrait Stories”, presents the original portrait artwork by local artist Carolyn Langdon. The exhibit will be on display through the month of September at Swarthmore Borough Hall. The opening reception is Friday, September 1, 6-8 pm. The event is free and open to the public. On your stroll through town for First Friday, stop by Borough Hall, meet the artist, and enjoy complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
In 2006 Ms. Langdon began drawing, painting, and studying art. Since then she has been experimenting with styles, subject matter, and materials. She has since returned home to realism, working primarily in pastels on paper and acrylic paints on canvas. “Telling stories through portrait and figure is my primary interest. Exactly what the story is being told is up to the viewer. Portraits of a place or growing things can also tell stories about the subject and the world around it. I invite the viewer to imagine the stories presented by my work”.
Swarthmore Friends of the Arts sponsors the exhibit.
