August’s Art Exhibit “Past and Present” Presents the Intriguing Abstract art by Local Artist Nancy Markezin

August’s Art Exhibit, titled “Past and Present”, presents the original abstract artwork of local artist Nancy Markezin. The exhibit will be on display through the month of August at Swarthmore Borough Hall.

The opening reception is Friday, August 4, 6-8 pm. The event is free and open to the public. On your stroll through town for First Friday, stop by Borough Hall, meet the artist, and enjoy complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.

“I describe myself as a non-objective abstract painter who paints ‘what my mind sees’ partly as a result of my training in applied arts and graphic design”. Ms. Markezin’s work reflects a desire for color design and repetition of patterns to convey to the viewer a certainlevel of organization, accomplished with line, color, and space.

Ms. Markezin has exhibited locally at the Community Arts Center, Widener University, and various galleries throughout the Philadelphia area, including 12 years with 3rd Street Gallery in Philadelphia.  For the past 20 years, Nancy has monitored the Abstract Studio at the
Community Arts Center.”

Swarthmore Friends of the Arts sponsors the exhibit.
