An exhibition of artwork by students at the Swarthmore Friends Nursery School will be on display from January 4 to 29 at Swarthmore Borough Hall, 121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday January 5 from 6-8 pm. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
“In all of the classes at Swarthmore Friends Nursery School we work on process versus product. It is more about learning the terms, tools, and artistic impression than what the finished product looks like. Sometimes the children take a project beyond what we could have planned. In the end, the children are so creative, the product is always a work of art. It is also intriguing to see the developmental progress from class to class. The children learn a variety of methods for creating art. The methods chosen are not only fun but also help to build fine and gross motor skills. The pieces in the show relate to their knowledge of primary and secondary colors.” Kim Scott, Art Teacher, SFNS.
Exhibit hours are Monday to Thursday 9 am to 8 pm, Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 3 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
The exhibit is sponsored by Swarthmore Friends of the Arts.
