An exhibition of painting by Media-area artist Leslie Gerhart will be on display from November 14 through December 31, 2017 at Swarthmore Borough Hall, 121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore. The public is invited to the artist’s reception on Friday December 1st, from 6 to 8 pm. The event is free and open to the public, an opportunity to meet the artist that should not be missed.
The exhibit, entitled “Journeys in Color” presents the artwork of Ms. Gerhart, a Media, PA artist that first began painting the flowers from her garden in water colors with an illustration style. As Ms. Gerhart gravitated to a botanical illustration style she became a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Ms. Gerhart describes her art as being inspired by colors and textures of nature with its “constant overwhelming beauty”. Her current passion is towards the abstract with color and texture dynamics, enjoying playing with how far it is possible to push an abstraction while exploring various mediums and techniques. “While I continue to try different things, lately oil pastels have become my main medium.”
Ms. Gerhart is a member of the Abstract Paint Group at CAC and has exhibited her work at CAC. She has also exhibited at Penn State/Great Valley and Media Arts Council to name a few.
Exhibit hours are M-Th 9am – 8pm, Fri 10am – 7pm, Sat 10am – 3pm, Sun 1 – 5pm.
